Make your own delicious speculaas!!

Ingredients required to make Speculaas (Dutch spiced cookies):
400 g mix for speculaas
100 g cold butter (straight from the fridge)
1 egg (55 g)
Cookie cutters

Preparation time: 20 minutes with additional 15 to 30 minutes resting time in the fridge. Baking time +/- 18 minutes.

Preheat the oven Electric: 195°C/ Fan forced 175°C 1.

Mix the ingredients into a smooth dough, making sure that the butter does not become too soft.
Sprinkle the dough with flour and let it rest in the fridge for 15 to 30 minutes.
Sprinkle some flour on the work surface and slowly roll out the dough.
Use cookie cutters or a glass to cut dough in to shapes.
Place the dough biscuits on baking paper or a greased baking tray and bake for 18 minutes.
Let the gingerbread cookies cool on a wire rack until they are hard and crispy.

Have fun with making your speculaas by using al sorts of shapes or forms!!
